     ** Hawaiian Mission Academy K-8 is authorized to
           issue I-20 Forms to qualified students wanting to attend our school.
 

Dear English as a Second Language Applicant 2009-2010,

Thank you for your interest in the ESL program at Hawaiian Mission Academy K-8.

  • Our program is very methodical and is based on students' learning and understanding the simplest English vocabulary words and their meanings first.  As they demonstrate mastery of each level of vocabulary they are advanced to the next level until they reach their age-group level. 
  • For mathematics and physical education the ESL student will go to the class in which they would normally be in his/her own country. 

The following information is designed to assist you in enrolling your child at Hawaiian Mission                                   Academy K-8: 

  1. Our ESL program is designed for children who will be 7 years old by December 31st of the current school year and older. 
  1. Students must have valid visa documentation and/or an I-20 form.  Hawaiian Mission Academy K-8 is authorized to issue I-20 forms to qualified students wanting to attend HMA K-8. (A Parent or Guardians current bank statement must be submitted if an I-20 form is requested) 
  1. A full year's tuition of $10,632.00 plus: 
    1. application fee ..................  $   50.00
    2. comprehensive fee .........   $ 250.00 

for a total of $10,932.00 is required before the child can start school and the I-20 issued. 

  1. It is also a requirement of the school, and the State of Hawaii, that the child:
  2. Be fully immunized or in the process of being immunized
  3. Has a complete physical examination and a Tuberculosis clearance in the United States within 12 months of starting at Hawaiian Mission Academy K-8. 
  1. Have the appropriate people (i.e., school principal, teacher, pastor or school counselor) complete the reference forms translated into English. (These will be mailed or faxed to us by the person filling out the forms). 
  1. We also require the students school records from the previous school year translated into English.
